49 MW Middelburg Solar Plant Seeks Off-taker
Africa Earth Energy Group has launched development of the 49 MW Middelburg Solar Plant. The installation will pair solar generation with battery energy storage and is sited near Middelburg in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Africa Earth Energy Group is marketing the Solar Plant to an anchor industrial off-taker under a 10- or 20-year power purchase agreement that offers long-term price certainty and more dependable electricity supply. The developer positions the contract as a tool for industrial customers to manage rising electricity costs and reduce exposure to supply uncertainty.
AEEG says the Solar Plant will enable participating businesses to report measurable contributions to decarbonisation targets, and that an anchor off-taker will have the opportunity to help shape the commercial partnership from the outset. The company is inviting industrial consumers and energy buyers to begin discussions about offtake and commercial terms.
The offering targets Mpumalanga's concentrated industrial demand for reliable, contracted generation and storage. For potential buyers, the transaction frames a route to secured long-duration supply backed by on-site battery energy storage.
